Letter from Lyndon Lanes
Dear Friends,
Over the last year or two it has become apparent, possibly more to you than anyone else, that our bowling center was in need of a major upgrade. It would be unfair, and unlike our family tradition to expect you to endure sub par facilities. That left us staring at over $140,000 in remodeling costs (new lanes, scoring and related equipment plus updating the other furnishings). Given the current state of the economy and our local, state and federal governments believe me we were facing a huge decision. Weighing these facts, along with the current advancement of government regulations (smoking bans, minimum wage issues, DUI interlocks, healthy initiatives and mandated health care etc. etc. etc.) plus the unwillingness of the banking industry to make loans to small businesses we have made a decision. We will cease the operation of the Bowling part of our business on May 23 rd 2010. We will however continue to operate the Grill and Bar indefinitely. Please continue to stop in for breakfast, lunch or dinner or a cold beer and a ball game and say hi to Dad and Ann.
We have worked diligently with Larry Schmittou owner of the Strike & Spare centers (Ten Pin, Executive, Fern Valley & more) to insure that our leagues have lanes available for the upcoming seasons. We will meet with you and your league members next week to answer any questions and let you know about the upcoming transition. We certainly hope that you will join us (Dan, Dave & Jack) and your other friends this summer and next season. We would like to keep our leagues alive.
Please understand that this decision did not come easy, and that we truly value your friendship and support… and that we had your best interests at heart too. Thank you for your understanding and years of continued friendship.
Sincerely,
John McCarthy Sr.
